One of our very special sanctuary girls, affectionately known as Max, was born during an incredibly cold 40-below-zero winter morning. From the very beginning, she was a survivor.
Max grew into one of our dream horses. We wanted to experience everything with her and give her the opportunity to learn and enjoy as much as possible. She participated in lessons, shows, barrel racing, and trail riding. She wasn’t just a horse we owned—she became a horse we built memories with.
Through the years, Max gave her heart to the people who worked with her. She experienced different jobs and different adventures, and she became a part of so many special moments.
One of the things that makes Max especially unique is her beautiful blue eye. It gives her a distinctive look that you simply don’t forget.
Now, after all the years of giving to people, Max deserves something in return: a peaceful retirement where she can simply be a horse. No more asking what she can do for us. Her job now is to enjoy her days, spend time with her horse friends, soak up the sunshine, and be loved.
At a retirement sanctuary, horses like Max still need thoughtful care as they age. Older horses can require extra attention to nutrition, teeth, mobility, shelter, and protection from extreme weather.
Max’s story isn’t over. Her working days may be behind her, but her golden years are just as important. She has spent her life giving people memories. Now we want to give her the retirement she has earned.
